Aneesha Grover
A Bharatanatyam dancer, teacher and choreographer based in New Delhi
About
Aneesha was born and raised in New Delhi, India, where she started learning Bharatanatyam at the age of 7. Under the able guidance of Guru Jyotsna Shourie, Aneesha developed a deep understanding of the intricate movements, storytelling and expressions that are unique to this ancient art form. Because of this, she was able to perform her Arangetram (Bharatanatyam graduation performance ceremony) at the age of 14.
After grasping the intricacies of this classical dance form and performing several Margam recitals (traditional Bharatanatyam repertoire), Aneesha started experimenting with new concepts and creating unique choreographies merging different styles of music and dance. She started writing and producing shows that are a blend of traditional dance told through modern storytelling techniques. This innovative approach soon gained attention and Aneesha was invited to perform at various festivals and events around the world.
In addition to this, Aneesha also teaches Bharatanatyam to children and adults. Her style of teaching is inclusive yet experimental, and she teaches her students to explore their creativity and express themselves through dance.
The idea is and always will be to make Bharatanatyam accessible to younger audiences and keep this beautiful art form alive.
